Usually the hair is chemically, machine, or steam altered to create a uniform texture.

Remy means that the cuticles of the hair are aligned, in tact and unidirectional (going in one direction). This ensures that the hair will not tangle if it is properly taken care of. Remy hair can be either virgin or processed.

Virgin Hair is hair that has not been chemically processed (dyed, bleached, permed, straightened etc/) or chemically altered in any way. Virgin Hair can either be remy or non-remy.
